The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) provides high-quality drinking water for 1.4 million customers in Alameda and Contra Costa counties and wastewater treatment services for another 680,000 customers. EBMUD has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II (EHSS II) to join the Workplace Health and Safety Section. The EHSS II develops and implements programs and projects designed to ensure compliance with health and safety, and emergency preparedness regulations. The EHSS II assists in developing proactive solutions to health and safety issues and/or regulatory requirements, coordinates compliance efforts with District work groups, and may direct the work of a small group of technicians and consultants.
Requires a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in environmental science, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, chemistry, biology, toxicology, engineering, or a closely related field and two years experience in workplace health and safety including accident prevention, evaluation, investigation and safety training and/or environmental compliance investigation and reporting, or enforcement of regulations which involved the review of water, wastewater or air pollution control industrial processes.
