ASP/CSP Study Group every 2nd and 4th Tuesday
Posted - Nov 21, 2016

Are you interested in joining an ASP/CSP study group?

Certification such as an Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) gives you a competitive advantage in hiring, and certificants report higher salaries than their non-certified counterparts.

The ASSE San Francisco Chapter is holding a bi-monthly ASP/CSP study group. The focus will be on the new CSP9 Examination Blueprint and ASP9 Blueprint.

ASP/CSP study group is held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at the Clorox Building (1221 Broadway) in Oakland, CA.

If interested, please contact Carlton L. Jones,, or 925-348-6428.

2016 ASSE Leadership Conference
Posted - Nov 01, 2016

Four executive committee members attended amazing Leadership Conference in Oak Brook, IL on October 13-15, 2016.

The annual ASSE Society Leadership Conference, held at Hamburger University in Oak Brook, Illinois, was a great opportunity for some of our own executive committee members to meet with 220 other executive committee members from chapters around the world. They participated in breakout, lightning, and in-depth sessions that will help develop skills and leadership potential for both ASSE and their careers. Look for some fun new ideas in the coming months. A highlight was Sydney Finkelstein, the keynote speaker and Steven Roth Professor of Management and Faculty Director at the Tuck Center for Leadership at Dartmouth College, who inspired all with his presentation on his new book – Superbosses – about hiring individuals who are capable not merely of driving our businesses forward but of rewriting the very definition of success.

Successful ASSE Regional Operating Committee (ROC) meeting in Burbank!
Posted - Oct 14, 2016

Mark Stone, Dave Paoletta, Amanda Shin, Will Valdriz, and I attended the bi-annual ROC 1 held in Burbank, CA on September 21 and 22. The ROC is an opportunity for presidents and other key officers from the 19 chapters that comprise Region 1 to learn and decide on ways to improve chapters at the local level. We voted to add three area directors to the region to assist the Regional Vice President (RVP) in providing service to the chapters, similar to what other regions already do. Dan Hopwood, our current RVP, has to travel to 19 chapters in the 24 months of his term, quite a feat for a volunteer position on top of his day job! You will have an opportunity to meet Dan next spring when he visits our chapter. The highlight of the meeting was a dinner and private tour of Air Force One at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley.
