Have drivers? Then you need to have a fleet safety program.
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of work-related injuries. Every 12 minutes someone dies in a motor vehicle crash, every 10 seconds an injury occurs, and every 5 seconds a crash occurs.
These incidents occur during the workday while conducting business in a company vehicle. Employers bear the cost for many of these incidents with increased operating expenses. These costs include workers’ compensation, auto, and employer liability insurances. Motor vehicle crashes cost employers $60 billion annually in medical care, legal expenses, property damage, and lost productivity. Whether you manage a fleet of vehicles, oversee a mobile sales force, or simply have an employee run company errands, implementing a fleet safety program in the workplace is a must. You can greatly reduce the risks faced by your employees and their families while protecting your company’s bottom line. This interactive workshop will give you the tools to establish a fleet safety program necessary for all companies that have fleet vehicles.
As an employer with fleet vehicles, it is your responsibility to have a fleet safety program. Cal/OSHA will discuss fleet safety and how to incorporate this subject into your company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Topics to be discussed include:
Who Should Attend?
The fleet safety portion of this seminar is presented by
California Highway Patrol (CHP) staff knowledgeable in
vehicle regulations and enforcement, as well as general
rules-of-the-road mandates. The mission of the CHP is to
provide the highest level of safety, service, and ecurity
to the people of California. The CHP achieves this goal
of maximizing service to the public, by providing educational
seminars that enhance vehicle and operational
safety.
A featured speaker from Cal/OSHA Consultation Service will show attendees how to implement fleet safety into their Injury and Illness Prevention Program during the second part of this seminar.
