COURSE SUMMARY: The goal of this class is to provide effective formal training to Program Managers (i.e. Supervisory Level and Safety Staff) on the requirements of NFPA 70E (2018) to prevent injuries from electrical hazards at their worksites. Participants will develop understanding of the requirements of NFPA 70E, OSHA Sub Parts “S and K”; and California DIR Electrical Safety Orders. Attendees will learn the elements of an NFPA 70E compliant written Electrical Safety Program, including Electrical Safety Program Principles, Controls and Procedures. Supervisors will learn how to perform risk analysis techniques using the Hierarchy of Controls to reduce or eliminate electrical safety hazards in the work-planning phase. Electrical Safe Work Practices will be discussed, including electrical safety principles, guidelines for qualification of personnel, PPE selection, Human Factors and employee responsibility. Program assessment, validation, documentation and recordkeeping will be extensively covered. This training meets the requirements of NFPA 70E – 2018, Section 110.2(A).
